What, No Space Invaders?

Virgin Media has a list of their Ten Icons of Gaming. They have some pretty heavy hitters on there, but they keep it focused on the post Nintendo world. Where's the Space Invader ships, the Pitfall Harry, or the Burger Time chef. All of these are more iconic than Duke Nukem.

Tuesday Tube - Battlestar Galactica Mix

Since I miss Battlestar so much and we won't fraking see it again till January, I thought I would post up some classic goodness and strangeness that is making the video rounds.

BSG Action Mix Vol. 01 - More bloopers are a click away
A very cool mix of all the great action from the early seasons posted by lordmystic

In my opinion the best of the BSG vs. every other sci fi series mashups. If anyone has a better one let me know.

A hint at what might happen next season when the BSG crew make it to Earth. "My names not Turkey and neither is his."

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer and preview

I have to say that the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix trailer and ABC preview put me on the edge of my seat for the movie.

Sequels that will probably never be made

Cinematical has a great list of seven sequels that should be made, but probably never will. I have to say I agree with most of them. I would love to see a new Alien movie, the next Adams' Hitchhiker novel, and a sequel to Heathers (although I hear Mean Girls was a heavily inspired film that I need to see).

I would add Lost Boys and Goonies (which I already have scripted in my head - Columbus give me a call!)

Tuesday Tube - Japanese Spider-Man (1978)

I caught this wacky premiere episode of Toei's 1978 Spider-Man TV series a few months ago, but forgot about till my spidey-mania over the new movie made me want to post something for the Tuesday Tube.

This gem is all in Japanese without subtitles, which makes it even more fun to make up your own translations. If you don't have time to watch the whole thing scan through to around 17 minutes to see Spider-Man in action!

Tuesday Tube - William Shatner - "Rocketman" (1978)

I know that most people have seen this a million times, but I love it and we've never posted it before. A great version of an amazing song. This song always reminded me of Ray Bradbury story and Shatner is a sexy man!

Rob Zombie's Halloween Trailer

My Craptastic Studies colleagues might give me flack over saying this, but I think Rob Zombie's Halloween looks awesome.

Yes, the original is the best thing since butcher knifed bread and Donald Pleasence saying "evil" over and over again will be missed, But, if the trailer is any indication, the remake is going to be killer!

Grindhouse - Danny Trejo Interview

I'm finally seeing Grindhouse tonight. Out of all the stars that pop up in the movie my favorite has to be the amazing Danny Trejo. This man has been in so many movies it's unfathomable.

Finally, Fanboyradio gives him some well deserved props with a podcast interview.

Tuesday Tube Hammer House of Horrors: Rude Awakening

I recently bought the box set of Hammer studios tv show, Hammer House of Horrors for a great price off of Ebay. Like many of the classic Hammer movies, these episodes provide the right amount of horror and cheese to make them highly enjoyable. My two favorites so far (I am about 5 episodes in) have been The Thirteenth Reunion and Rude Awakening.

Rude Awakening
is a strange little piece starring Denholm Elliott (Dr. Marcus Brody from Indiana Jones fame) and Lucy Gutteridge.

Battlestar Galactica Movie News

Ron Moore confirmed that the first of two proposed Battlestar Galactica movies will appear on Sci Fi in the fall, 3 or 4 months before the January start of the fourth season. But, don't praise the gods just yet, it seems that the movie will be about the Pegasus before it meets up with the Galactica in Season 2 and though it will reveal some information about the fourth season we will probably not get any new information about the five or the proximity to Earth.

Even so, the plot sounds like a great idea and Moore guarantees that we will see all the main characters in one capacity or another. It will good to get back out there.

The B List - Sci fi/Fantasy Slang

Noy Jitat - Pirates of Dark Water

This series had many curse words, but this is the one I remember and say the most. I believe it was Ioz's swear word of choice, but PiratesofDarkwater.net states that Ren was actually the first to use it.

Frack
- Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar's F-word has been showing up all over lately. I just heard it on Veronica Mars the other night and it has entered into my vocabulary pretty easily. Interestingly enough, Wikipedia links the first use of "Frak" to my favorite Star Trek character, Scotty in Final Frontier.

Frill - Farscape

I have been catching up on the amazing space drama Farscape on DVD lately and I have to say that Frill is a forerunner of Frack, just as many of the ideas in Battlestar tie directly back to the crew of Moya.

Thank the Maker - Star Wars

Star Wars has a ton of slang, from Nerf Herder to (the horrible) wizard, but my favorite of all time has to be C3-P0's "Thank the Maker." Out of all the slang from movies and tv, I probably say this one the most.
