Solomon Kane's Justice is Coming to Theaters!

Prelims must have really kicked me out of the loop. I had no idea that my favorite Robert E. Howard Puritan swashbuckler, Solomon Kane was getting a movie!

James Purefoy (who I loved in the much missed Rome) will be stepping into the Puritan's boots and it looks like this will be the first of a possible trilogy.

I'm glad to hear that Howard is getting some Hollywood play again. I'm actually presenting a paper on his American Tales and questions of empire at a conference in Louisville, KY this February. I'll post the paper up when I actually get it written.

This is going to be awesome!

Go See Stardust this Weekend!!!

Neil Gaiman's wonderful novel looks like it will be a great movie. It's on my to do list for tomorrow.

Go see it this weekend and fight the people who are saying its going to bomb!

Beowulf Trailer

The trailer for Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf hit the web and it makes me for get how much I didn't like Polar Express and how much I love Fire and Ice.

Rowling says she will publish Harry Potter encyclopedia

J.K. Rowling has decided not to leave us in the lurch with the small "19 Years Later" epilogue, but will publish a Harry Potter Encyclopedia using many of her notes from the series and story-lines that had to be weeded out of the original series.

She also claims that she will provide

details about the characters who survive Deathly Hallows, characters who continue to live on in Rowling’s mind in a clearly defined magical world.

Hogwarts, for example, has a new headmaster (“McGonagall was really getting on a bit”), and Rowling said she can see Harry going back to give the “odd talk” on Defense Against the Dark Arts. That class, by the way, is now led by a permanent professor, since Voldemort’s death broke the jinx that didn’t allow a teacher to remain in the position for more than a year.

Sounds good, but I am ready to see what Rowling will do next that isn't in the Potter-verse. With every young adult novel out there being touted as "The Next Potter," Rowling should go left field and give us something that no one is expecting.

Since I sold my old VHS copy of Legend at my Super Awesome Sale Friday, I have been wanting to watch the movie over and over.

Neil Gaiman interview at Aint it Cool News

Quint over at Aint it Cool News has a nice long interview with the wonderful Neil Gaiman. They discuss everything movie wise from STARDUST, BEOWULF, CAROLINE, and the long stalled SANDMAN film, to how Gaiman want to direct DEATH himself.

It's just amazing that Gaiman is finally getting his due. I just passed on the love myself by giving one of my Early American Lit. professors (who studies the Uncle Remus Tales) a copy of ANANSI BOYS.

In the Name of the King Trailer

In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale is another video game movie made by the unstoppable (please-stop him) Uwe Boll.

Boll has made such monstrosities as House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and Blood Rayne, yet I keep coming back for more.

In the Name of the King has an impressive cast, including one of my favorite Sliders alums, John Rhys-Davies, and Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman.

That has to make it worth something, right? Ben Kingsley just needed the money when he was in Blood Rayne.

Of course, I do want to see Blood Rayne II: Deliverance since I found out that it takes place in the old West !

It's like he reads my mind and then churns them out. Maybe I will be wrong about his new movies.

Catch the new Stardust Ad

Neil Gaiman has posted a new Stardust ad from the LA Times over at his blog.

I am looking forward to this one, but if you haven't read the book it is a must before seeing the movie.
