Kozyndan Documentary

One of my favorite artist couples, Kozyndan have a documentary online.

It was made by the BALTIC Centre for the Playstation Season project in the UK.

The documentary goes into detail about their process and interviews some of the people close to them. It is a wonderful and insight look at two amazing artists.

No Surfing (Heroes, Stargate: Atlantis, The Host)

Jayme Lynn Blaschke discusses last Monday's Heroes and asks some interesting questions, although I for one have faith that they will explain the whys and hows soon enough.

Actor Paul McGillion, who portrays Dr. Carson Beckett on Stargate: Atlantis is leaving the show. This is a bummer. He is one of the great ensemble that make this show so wonderful.

Another great trailer for The Host. This is really the must see movie for me right now. I hope it makes it to St. Louis in January.

Tuesday Tube - On the Edge of Blade Runner

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, so I loved this great 2000 documentary from the England's Channel Film Four. Great interviews make this one worth seeing.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Trailer

Here it is in all it's glory. It really does just tease us and nothing else - Harry flying in London, Black, Snape, and Dumbledore shouting, Harry and the gang flying through London.

The music sounds amazing though and since I know the story from the book, I find myself ready to bypass the rest of the buildup and skip right to seeing it on the big screen.

Jackson and Co. are not going back to The Hobbit

TheOneRing.net announced the sad news yesterday that Peter Jackson will not be directing the long awaited prequel to his Lord of the Rings trilogy.

This doesn't bod well for the movie, which will go on without them. Maybe public outcry will help. Surly Jackson's email to the fans will spark some tempers.

Overstreet is pushing ALFONZO CUARON as the best man to fill Jackson's shoes, I like the idea, but the problem is the team that Jackson brings with him to a project. Everyone at Wingnut is amazing in their own right as any of the behind the scenes excerpts on the LOTR's discs will show.

John Carpenter's The Thing (one of my favorite movies of all time) is to be re-imagined by Ronald D. Moore of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA fame. I trust him to do something amazing, but will see.

Tuesday Tube - Danger 50,000 Volts: Zombies

This has been around for a while, but I just came across it last week while watching videos for Nick Frost and Simon Pegg's new movie Hot Fuzz.

According to the description:

In 2002, Frost wrote and presented a TV show called Danger! 50,000 Volts!, which presented viewers with various worst-case scenarios and offered sensible and easy-to-understand ways out of these situations, blended throughout with Frost's unique humor. In the DVD release of the program, a 30 minute spin-off episode called Danger! 50,000 Zombies! is included as an extra.

Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite comedies of all time. Check it out for more zombie shenanigans! (Yes! I never get to use that word!)

Clips from Bong Joon-ho's The Host

Bloody Disgusting has five clips from one of my most anticipated films of the year, Bong Joon-ho's The Host.

The clips are wonderful! Good shots of the creature and scenes that show the family drama of the film.

Magnolia Pictures will release the movie in America on January 31st.

Orson Scott Card finds Silver

SciFi Wire is reporting that Orson Scott Card's new novel Empire, which will hit book shelves Nov. 28th, is actually part of a larger project.

The Empire story is so expansive that the creators wanted it to be told in multiple media. The plan is to follow up the first book with a comic-book series, which will tell a different story from the novel and start earlier in the timeline of events than the book.

A movie and video game tie in will follow with Joel Silver's Silver Pictures optioning to handle the multi-media tie-ins.

I read the first five chapters of Empire on Card's website and I'm excited to read the rest in a few weeks. The novel revolves around

a scenario in the near future, in which the country has plunged into civil war after the White House is bombed and the president is assassinated

Card showed he could handle large scale works with books like Shadow of the Hegemon and Shadow of the Giant.

New Spiderman 3 Trailer

The new Spiderman 3 trailer has hit the web and it looks amazing! I can't wait to see it. The scary thing is that next summer will be here before we know it.

Tuesday Tube - Misfits of Science

Long before Heroes my childhood was made super by the off beat show Misfits of Science.

I was so into this show that I had my mom puffy paint me a hooded sweatshirt like the one that the group wear on the show.

This show also had some other things going for it. According to Wikipedia, it was cursed:

Dean Paul Martin (son of Dean Martin) and Kevin Peter Hall both met early and untimely deaths a few years after the show ended

It was also cursed with a young Courtney Cox.

Ash vs. Marvel Zombies!

When I saw the photo this morning I thought it was a fan mash up, but an Army of Darkness vs. Marvel Zombie crossover is really going to happen!

According to Newsarama:

Debuting in March, the smash-up of the Marvel Universe and the cult horror film franchise will be written by John Layman, with art by Fabiano Neves and June Chung, and covers by Marvel Zombies cover artist Arthur Suydam. Oh, and serving as a creative consultant on the project is the aforementioned foremost authority on the comic book undead – particularly Marvel’s - Robert Kirkman.

Spinning directly out of the closing pages of Dynamite’s December release Army of Darkness #13 (which will go on hiatus for the length of this in-continuity crossover), Marvel Zombies Vs. The Army of Darkness takes place before the Ultimate Fantastic Four introducing a zombified Marvel Universe - and takes place concurrently with Kirkman’s own upcoming prequel to his 2005 limited series.
