Deathly Hallows: Cover Art!

The cover art for Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been revealed over at Time's Nerd World.

It looks great. I can't wait to read how Dumbledore comes back, Harry doesn't die, Snape is shown as trustworthy, and Malfoy sacrifices himself to show that he is good at heart!

Tuesday Tube - Ray Bradbury at the Sixth Annual Writer's Symposium by the Sea (2001)

Forbidden Planet had a link to a new Sci fi Wire interview with science fiction guru Ray Bradbury today so I thought I would add to the Bradbury love with this amazing 2001 lecture at he Sixth Annual Writer's Symposium by the Sea.

I love the way he pushes his audience to read the short stories of earlier America (Irving, Poe, Hawthorne, Wharton, etc).

28 Weeks Later - Trailer

MoviesOnline has the trailer for 28 Weeks Later. I have to say, I was a huge fan of the first movie, but I have always believed that was due to Garland's script and Boyle's direction. The sequel doesn't have either, and (like many lesser sequels and tv shows that jump the shark) they have added a 12 year old kid to the mix.

Sure, there was a young girl in the first one, but the new trailer makes the kid the main character, shifted around by American military as the returned British citizenry go to zombie hell.

I'll see it, but I'm less than optimistic.

Ron Moore Talks the Battlestar Galactica Season Finale (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Ron Moore sheds some light on a strange and (in my opinion) disappointing Battlestar Galactica season finale over at Tuned in Journal. The interview made me feel a little better about the revelations, but overall I wasn't impressed. The music that was bugging four crew members turned out to be exactly what most watchers feared. They showed us four of the five other cylons at the same time after they have building up the mystery forever. It is interesting that, as Moore discusses, the cylons are members of each branch of fleet life, but this fact points to a past knowledge that I find hard to believe.

Starbuck's return was the icing on the crap cake. Apollo leaves formation right before a fire fight and when Kara shows she throws out a "howdy - I found Earth" like it's the feel good moment of the century. The inclusion of "All Along the Watchtower" tied it all up as a loser move for me. They have never had licensed music in the show before and the score has always been brilliant. Why start now?

All in all, I was more disappointed with this years finale than last. At least last year I could chalk it up to a cheap trick and move on. But, the first three episodes of this year (the best of the season besides the "should have been 2 hour" Strike episode). I can only be hopeful that Moore knows what he is doing and the long wait (till January 2008) will be worth it.

Stardust Trailer

The trailer for the Neil Gaiman adaptation, Stardust is finally up on Yahoo. I have to say that I think the movie looks great, but the trailer is trying way to hard to be action packed. The book itself (a must read before the movie) does not concentrate near as much on action packed scenes as the trailer makes the movie look.

Cobie Smulders to play Wonder Woman

Well, Joss is gone from Wonder Woman, but according to Film Ick, Silver and company still went with his top pick, Cobie Smulders to play the Amazon.

I've never seen this girl before (which is a good thing), but I got excited for a moment thinking it was Lucy Griffiths who plays the kick butt, Marian on the BBC's new Robin Hood series.

I'm still ticked that we will never see a Whedon Woman. Something big is going to have to happen for me to get excited about this movie again.

SCI FI WIRE is reporting that Lost has been picked up for a fourth season. With the last episodes of the third season kicking in and me on the edge of my seat to find out more about Locke tonight, I am ready for more time on the island.
