The Thing that should not be?

Fangoria is reporting that Strike Entertainment (Dawn of the Dead remake, Slither) is planning to make a prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 sci fi/horror masterpiece, The Thing.

I have mixed feelings on this one. It's something that could be amazing or go horribly wrong. I really believe it will depend on how they handle the SFX as much as the story itself. They need to stick with the animatronics that made the first movie so discustingly scary and only add touches of CGI when needed.

Whatever happens, I'll be there with my parka and my flamethrower.
